HOW TO MAKE THE BEST GANG HOOKS IN THE WORLD

Tru-Turn 711's make the best Gangs in the world, they are super sharp straight out of the pack, the permasteel finish is extremely rust resistant and the eye opens up without breaking, unlike most other brands of hook. Rigging Tru Turn 711's with swivels allows the Tru-Turn cam action to work, so the HOOK STRIKES BACK!

Before we start, remember that Tru-Turn Hooks are EXTREMELY SHARP and you must be careful when handling them or making gang hooks.

Here's how to go about it:

You'll need a set of the right size Tru-Turn 711 hooks (available from 4/0 - 9/0) and the corresponding swivels. Tru-Turn Swivels are available to suit hook sizes 2/0-4/0 and 5/0-6/0 in packs of 72. If you are ganging larger or smaller 711's then use a high quality rolling swivel such as the Pioneer brand and make sure the eye of the swivel is small enough that it will not fit over the barb of the hook. You will also need a set of side cutters and a pair of decent crimping pliers.

What you'll need...

First up being careful, open the eye on the first hook with the side cutters:
Now load two of the swivels onto the hook, one down at the gape, the other in the eye as in the photo below. Once you have both the swivels on the hook, close the eye of the hook (with one swivel inside) with the crimping pliers.
The eye should be closed and rolled in like the one in the first photo below. This will stop the swivel coming off in the fight or on the cast. Now you can open the eye on two more hooks, your first hooks should look like the one in the second photo below.
Now you can go about fitting the other hooks, load them from the open eye onto the swivel.
Its a good idea to attach a swivel to the top hook, this gives you something to tie your line onto as well as allowing the bait to move naturally in the water. Don't forget to close the eye with a roll in towards the shank of the hook, this makes a strong and secure set of gang hooks.
And now you have the finished product below. These gangs are a great way to catch many species from Flathead and Tailor to Snapper and Mackerel, just match the size to your favorite bait and get it in the water!
